About Me

In the first hour of my day, I’m a psychologist, cheerleader, chef, and taxi driver. My name is Aliette Silva, and I’m a mom that talks too much and lives for Cuban sandwiches. I was born and raised in Hialeah, a city in Miami. There were five things I wanted to be when I grew up: a teacher, a writer, President of the United States, a dancer like Paula Abdul and lastly, a waitress on roller skates. In 2016, I could have died from postpartum complications after having my second daughter. After my recovery, I decided to start living with intention. Since I am terrible on roller skates, my goal with She Pens is to accomplish one of my five dream jobs. I write posts, share stories and snap pictures of the daily mama grind. My motto is that the magic lies in what people often perceive as the mundane.

I’m a lover of all things word-related, from poetry to novels to witty captions on Instagram. I want to connect with other mamas that are too busy and too tired but are still hustling to chase their dreams or merely survive Monday morning. I published my first short story in 2016, “A Girl and Her Pit Bull.” When I am not writing, you can find me eating pizza, drinking red wine and chasing my two girls all over Disney World. I will write about that too. I believe that laughter and faith can get a mama through the most exhausting of days. Life’s chaos makes for beautiful stories, and nothing beats a good story. I hope to connect with you on this journey.
